January 31, 2012

“Frailing” on the banjo is an old, traditional banjo playing technique. Here are a few short videos that explain how it’s done.

Frailing Motion

Frailing on individual strings

Boilin’ Cabbage: individual strings

Boilin’ Cabbage: left hand, slowly

Boilin’ Cabbage: left hand, a little faster

Remember the 3 Golden Groberg Rules:

  1. Relax
  2. Slow down
  3. Work on specific, small problems, one at a time

If you learn how to do this on the banjo, you learn how to do this in life. ;-)
